I was incredibly disappointed with Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead, directed by Tommy Wirkola. I was pumped when Netflix decided to stream it, but then, upon watching it, my excitement deflated, and I was left feeling…well…a little dead inside.

It all begins when Herzog’s powerful arm is sewn onto Martin (Vegar Hoel). With it, he can raise the dead, which, in all honesty, is a fantastic skill to possess because Herzog is also raising a murderous zombie army.

Seeing as both Herzog and Martin are raising armies, you can tell where this will lead, right?

Zombie Battle!

But Martin, even though he has an army of Russian zombies following him, still needs a little help, and this is where the Zombie Squad – Daniel, Monica, and Blake – come into the picture. They are a bunch of nerds, but damn, can they fight! (I would definitely want them on my zombie team.)

So…the battle finally happens, and yes, it’s bloody and fierce. But without great music blaring in the background like in Dead Snow, this combat scene left me feeling a little sad.

And, while we are discussing music, Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead had a TERRIBLE soundtrack – I did appreciate, though, when they pumped Gunther and the Sunshine Girls and Bonnie Tyler into two scenes.

The ending…ugh…I did not like it at all; it was disturbing and gross.

Overall, Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead was an interesting film to watch, but I definitely prefer Dead Snow – watch that one instead.
